The Story of Generations Church

The Beginning

Generations Church (formerly Alliance Baptist Church) was founded in October of 1996 by Pastor Terry Kizer and his wife, Cheryl, with 13 charter members. Immediately, the charter members of Alliance cultivated a family atmosphere that has held up to this day. Beginning by meeting in a local community center, Alliance eventually was able to purchase a plot of land in an, at the time, small Keller area, right off of Park Vista Boulevard. There, Alliance Baptist Church built buildings, held services, hosted events, and reached countless lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Revitalization

After years of faithful and successful ministry, Alliance entered a very difficult season. In 2022, Pastor Terry was approached by Pastor Philip Hickman, Senior Pastor of Legacy Baptist Church, and one who was called, surrendered, and sent out to ministry at Alliance, about the concept of a church revitalization. In October of 2022, on Alliance’s 26th anniversary, Pastor Terry retired as Senior Pastor, and Pastor Philip was unanimously voted as his successor, beginning the church revitalization project, and effectively rebranding as Generations Church.

That same year, Pastor Philip began prayerfully seeking a candidate for a Campus Pastor for Generations Church. He met with a church planter and Pastor in Porter, TX, Pastor Jeff Williams and his wife LeAnn, about the opportunity. God impressed upon Pastor Jeff’s heart the need to be involved in the ministry at Generations, and he surrendered and began serving on staff in January of 2023.

Over the course of the next two and a half years, Pastor Philip and his wife, Carrie, Pastor Jeff and LeAnn, the church congregation and leaders, as well as staff and members of Legacy Baptist Church, poured time, money, support, and prayers towards the restoration of a great church in a now thriving community. This period of revitalization saw dramatic increases in attendance, salvations and baptisms, and financial health.

In the fall of 2024, Pastor Philip felt the call of the Lord to release Generations Church as an independent church once again, upon seeing the amazing things the Lord had done, and the unprecedented progress that had been made.

The Mission

In January of 2025, the board and members of Generations Church voted unanimously to call Pastor Jeff Williams to be the next Lead Pastor of Generations Church.

February 2nd, 2025 marked the first official day that Generations Church became an independent church once again. The room was filled with so much joy and excitement for all the amazing things that God had done, and gratitude towards Pastor Philip, Legacy Baptist, and Pastor Terry for the groundwork that was laid before. Along with this transition, Generations was able to hire another full-time staff member, Pastor John Hickman, as the Worship and Young Adults Pastor.

Generations Church is continuing to see hearts turned to Jesus, people discipled in a closer walk with Him, and followers of Christ sharing love with the community around them. It is their heart to cultivate an atmosphere for people of all generations.
